It’s possible he said LaFleur, but that’s a big stretch. I’m way more likely to believe he said, “No, wha what are you doing?” Especially considering the stuttering that was going on in those final seconds.

I hear LaFleur… and yes he’s talking to Dan it would seem. Maybe they originally were going to rename Dan LaFleur? Or are we supposed to assume Sawyer was their as well?
Pay close attention, there are two people in that room. I hear two voices early that sound like Daniel and Sawyer.
I hear those same two voices too mr. congested. I might suspect that daniel and sawyer both have talked to the doctor. At some point one of the future losties is going to have to tell one of the DI about them. My only question is how will they affect the past?
meh…lafleur or not, we should be considering what Pierre means by reconstituting the Dharma Initiative.
Thank you for bringing the discussion into focus. We already know that Dan and Sawyer are in the 70’s and a part of the Dharma Initiative on one level or another, so whether Sawyer is in the room or not seems to be a mute point.

Not that it matters since we know Sawyer is on the island in Dharma time, but there is no way that he says “Lafleur” in the video. Not even close. “No, wai–, what are you doing?!” How that is “Lafleur, what are you doing?!” I have no idea…
He does say “No wai- what are you doing?” but that is before he says “La Fleur, what are you doing?”. Listen at the very end of the transmission, right before they cut away from Chang; it’s almost certainly “La Fleur” there.
It does matter. If he said “LaFleur” at Comic Con LAST YEAR, then either the writers are really cool and way ahead of things, or they traveled back in time and re-recorded that message to fit it in with last week’s episode! Either way what’s it have to do with American Idol, neoloki?
it’s not that they’ve suddenly gotten lucky and are way ahead of things…they just know what they’re doing and have a studio backed end date. the show’s in the can man…sit back and let darlton blow our minds.
Exactly. The writers know what they’re doing. They’ve known the basic story arc since the beginning. I think it’s totally realistic that last year they knew they were going to send Sawyer back in time and change his name to LaFleur.
That said, I still don’t 100% hear it.

When was it last edited? I would bet it’s within the last few days. I kinda hope it’s been like that for a while though. It would be cool if that was in there, but I won’t confuse hope for likelihood.
everyone knows that wikipedia, and therefore by extension lostpedia, is a fountain of incorrect information. anyone can edit it, so it can’t be trusted. i’m with horselover – you’d need to know when it was last edited.
Ok, to clear things up. Definitely hear him say LaFleur. First he says “what-what are you doing?” and from the video up top he says it at 2:39. Then at the very end you can hear him say “LaFleur! What are you doing?” and he says that at 2:40. If that video dissappears again, let me know and I’ll post the footage I filmed. It’s pretty much raw footage and the crowd hasn’t been cut out, but you can still hear the video fine.

If you’re looking to hear it, you probably will. I played it to some friends (lost fans) without telling them what to look for and they all said it just sounded like he was stuttering ‘no, what are you doing’?
That’s how you gotta do it. Once you have the words written in your head you hear what you want. I think if they were going to put that easter egg in they would have made the name a lot more clear

I can’t say for certain if he’s saying LaFleur or not. But it did sound like there was another voice in addition to Daniel’s which could have been Sawyer (aka LaFleur).

and then after reading it, you should not have any doubts about what he said “La Fleur”. First of all, because it’s in the transcripts of the video at this web site. Second of all, if you realize that the date this “aired” was July 26, 2008, you will know the Lost writers were already in the thick of what would be happening this season on the show and so it’s not a stretch that he would’ve said “Le Fleur”.In fact, it’s quite deliberate like the rest of the video. This web page has an abundance of info about this character and all the Dharma tapes that aired on the show, as well as ones that were not on the show such as this one.

I was just about to go research that and then I read your comment. Thanks for saving me some time.
As near as I can tell, people have always believed what they wanted to believe or heard what they wanted to hear. Just because someone posts it, doesn’t mean it’s true. Doesn’t mean it’s false either. And I suspect (rather strongly) that if people really have all the answers to LOST that even the writers and producers might not even have, they wouldn’t be bothered to post here and debate these things.
In the opening to S5 where Cheng is being filmed the camera man is a dead ring for Sawyer. This was commented on by everyone. So, a suggestion of Sawyer player the camera man part was there from the beginning of S5. Great catch. I’m a be liev er.

Hey. If you listen at 1:53, just after cheng said “regardless”, there was another small voice that said “Is this (‘movie’ or something) is on?” That small voice does sound like Sawyer..
I didn’t hear any voice that sounded like Sawyer. I think it’s entirely possible that in the original planning stages for season five that it was Faraday they had planned on being called LaFleur.

I agree…I just listened with headphones on in my quiet office and it does say “La Fleur”…..Or at least that is what I am going with…the last thing that is said before the film cuts off, before the man says “Is that a camera?”

I agree about sitting back and just enjoying the ride of LOST.
I think what hit such a nerve with me about the original post, is that I know I’ve seen the video before, but can’t place what web site or where else that might have been? I certainly hadn’t seen it through attending anything Comic Con related, because I had never even heard of that before. Whether or not Chang says “Le Fleur” isn’t as big of a mystery to me as when and where did I see this before. I distinctly remember having seen before the first part of the video with the kid crying.
Does anyone else know they have seen this before, and specifically where it was????

“LaFleur what are you doing?” comes in at 2:44 on the meter clock with the video. It is definitely there and would lead me to believe that Sawyer is in the room while Faraday is talking to Chang. Maybe he is the camera man or maybe he is there in his role as Head of Security for Dharma on the island.

The truly sad part is that IT DOESN’T MATTER if Chang says “LaFleur” or not!
We KNOW Daniel is there, so LaFleur might as well be there too–it’s a moot point.
The only reason people are obsessing about this issue is because Lost fans REALLY really want to believe that the producers have a master plan…or that some ‘higher power’ is pulling the strings. So we look for proof that “they knew what they were doing in past episodes/seasons” even though we may be giving them too much credit.
The REAL question is: Who was this video intended for—Desmond or the 316ers?

They do have a master plan, however, the real issue is that Lost fans are so obsessed with being the first one to discover an Easter Egg and being right. In this case it is a moot point. Why bother putting the name “LaFleur” in the video when at the time it had no relevance? The name LaFleur did not become relevant until the episode titled “LaFleur”. If we had seen “LaFleur” before we saw the comicon video, different story. Think about it. What is the big reveal here? OMG! We just saw Sawyer become LaFleur! We were all wondering who LaFleur was since Comicon 08! ’cause we all heard the name LaFleur last spring and all wondered about it! Don’t you remember all of the internet chatter about the name LaFleur since last summer! Finally! Some frakking closure! Remember when I said ” did he just say LaFleur? I knew it meant something!
