Early Life
Taylor Alison Swift was born in West Reading, Pennsylvania on December 13, 1989. Her name is a tribute to the musician James Taylor. For preschool and kindergarten, she attended a Montessori school before transferring to The Wyndcroft School for first grade. Taylor became interested in musical theatre when she was nine years old. In addition, she took singing and acting training in New York City. She originally became interested in country music because she admired Shania Twain. As a teenager she performed at neighbourhood gatherings and festivals.
She learnt to play the guitar at the age of 12 and penned “Lucky You.” Swift’s family relocated to Nashville when she was 14 to offer her a better opportunity of breaking into the music industry. In 2003, Swift began working with music manager Dan Dymtrow. Republic Records Deal and Departure from Big Machine
Between 2006 and 2017, Taylor produced six albums for Big Machine Records. When her contract with Big Machine expired in 2018, we discovered that her relationship with the firm and its creator, Scott Borchetta, had gotten difficult. Taylor’s principal goal in the negotiations was to reclaim ownership of her first six albums. Borchetta allegedly offered her a plan in which she would gain custody of her previous records one at a time when new albums were released over several years. Taylor, who was aware that Borchetta was considering selling his firm, subsequently said that she did not want to be sold to a new corporation.
She eventually elected to leave Big Machine and her back catalogue and negotiate a new long-term agreement with Republic Records, a Universal Music division. The revised agreement had two significant caveats: 1) From now on, she owns all of her master recordings. 2) She receives a higher percentage of the revenues from her song sales. Furthermore, if Universal ever sells its $1 billion interest in Spotify, Taylor will earn a sizable portion of the proceeds.
Real Estate
Taylor Swift’s real estate holdings are astounding. She owns around $90 million in real estate in the United States.
Nashville: At the age of 20, she purchased a downtown Nashville condo that is now worth $3 million. In 2011, she paid $2.5 million for a big mansion in Nashville’s outskirts.
Rhode Island: She spent $6.65 million in 2013 on a 12,000-square-foot waterfront mansion in Rhode Island.
Taylor has a $50 million apartment portfolio in New York City. Her Manhattan footprint began in 2014, when she purchased a Tribeca penthouse, which she later converted into a 10-bedroom duplex, which is now likely worth more than $20 million on its own. She paid $12.5 million for the 100-year-old four-story penthouse next to the duplex in 2017. She paid $10 million on another unit in her old building in February 2018.
Los Angeles: She resides in a $30 million house in Los Angeles, which she purchased in September 2015.
