Camila Alves was born in Itambacuri, Minas Gerais, Brazil, on January 28, 1982. Her mother is a designer and artist, while her father is a farmer. Alves has a “loving and powerful sibling who contracted diabetes at a young age in infancy,” according to her website. Camila visited her aunt in Los Angeles when she was 15 years old and wanted to stay. Alves spent four years working as a waitress before deciding to learn English and make the United States her permanent home.
