More excellent observations from Mr. James.
The thing I love about Mr. James is that he fuses fan boy glee with hard logic. His ideas and observations are not only entertaining, they make sense too. There are so many ‘creative’ LOST analysts who simply cannot back up their theories. And hey, at least he’s not reading off Lostpedia half the time.
very entertaining yet insightful indeed.
love him!
love him! except for the kate hate part
Dud-World, Boom-World. Copyright it now ’cause Doc and The Darlton will steal it in a heartbeat.
Except for the sometimes G4TV-style, he’s entertaining, for sure.
It’s clear what’s going on with the Landies© in Boom-World, Sideways© Reality: It’s all about John. Jacob’s so sorry for what John had to go through, never losing his faith (except for wanting to kill himself) that something special was going on on the Island, the intrepid leader is going to make sure Locke has a chance to find his true self. Jack will make him walk, he will have his wife just as he apparently has his father – and if Ben Bad Bad Ben doesn’t kill him, the two will become fast friends, both finding balance and happiness in the Sideways Reality©.
Jack has something else he has to do to make the bigbaddaboom work, though, and to transport his transformed self into – BOOMWORLD!
… REALLY?
LOL
I really liked how he put together Christian Sheppard encouraging Locke to turn the donkey wheel in order for Ben to kill him, allowing Smokey to use his identity. It got me thinking:
1) If Christian is a manifestation of Smokey (similar to Locke), then Smokey really isn’t limited to the island. Jack saw Christian at the hospital after he left the island (remember the smoke detector went off?). In fcat one could argue that was Smokey trying to destroy Jack as it helped to push him over the edge (and to stop shaving). So what does Smokey mean when he says: “I just want to go home.” And does that change the perspective of Jack’s hero-arc that he over came the dispair Smokey laid out by haunting him with his daddy issues while Jacob is giving him space to work them out?
2) When Jacob visits the candidates at the end of last season, which universe did he meet them in?
3) I wonder if Ben was “claimed” or “infected” when Richard saved him BUT passed the test? This would lead Ben to be functioning as Smokey’s man on the inside. It seems the infected individuals are not cogniscent of the fact that they are “evil” and are easily mainpulated. We’ve always seen Ben as a manipulator, but Ben was definitely manipulated into killing Jacob, and possibly Locke. This would also help to explain Jacob’s response to Ben: “What about you?”
I enjoyed both his recap/theorizing and the slow migration of that strand of hair from the top of his head to the side.
There is some interesting insights, but all the Kate hate is annoying. Unless she shot the guy’s dog, I don’t see why there is such an intense hatred.
I’m having a hard time buying “the Man on the inside theory” — I still have the feelings that Ben is just a pawn — a damaged soul — easily swayed — daddy issues, thirst for power and his desire or need to be something more than “what about you, Ben” is what cause him to go on with the killing . . . . I.E. Crossed off the list of “Candidates” because he is flawed . . . otherwise – Why would Jacob let him stay in control of the others so long . . . The self proclaimed “Island Champion” — He is a “believer” in all things Jacob or so he thinks!!
BUT Then again — you did get me thinking AC–
- all along Ben has truly thought that he is doing the right thing and on the right path – But so does Clair chasing the others because they have Aaron
- he takes John to the Cabin to see Jacob — only that is not where Jacob is — and surly he knew evil was trapped there and he was not afraid to enter — and debates still rage here — is the circle of ash to keep things out or keep things in???? Anyone???
- smoky comes when Ben calls with the merc’s as a protector
- Ben is not judged by Smoky/Alex but told to follow john
- Ben kills john because he thinks that he has to do that to get everyone to go back
- he is the one who brands Juliet – like the mark of the beast — I wonder how many others have brands? is a brand a mark of someone flawed?
- AND Widmore – said — “I know what you are boy!!” when Ben is in his bed room . . what is in that? and forgive me but why didn’t Ben kill widmore just then? Is it because that too was against the rules??
I’m talking myself in circles now so – I’m going to stop
I always make a point of watching this guy, he really gets me thinking and actually does make a lot of sense. Fusing good info/theories with light humour is a great way to recap.
Some genuinely great information, Sword lily I observed this.
