Hmmm I like it but it’s no where near as good as that 815 one. I wish they’d ship to uk
To be honest, I don’t think this one is very good at all.
awww poor Jack. I still feel kinda cringy everytime I see that bit in Season 3 when Jack goes to the room only to see his love interest kissing the face off of his rival, Sawyer.
I mean to see them both naked lol cause he didn’t actually see them make out. My bad.
I wonder if the url quotes are supposed to be meaningful…
“I think that man was you.” – Charlotte to Daniel “This Place Is Death” – Jack surveillance poster
“I can get you peanut butter.” – Charlie to Claire “Confidence Man” – 815 crash poster
“We were caught in a net.” – Jack to Sawyer “Three Minutes” – Hippie van poster
“That and basket weaving.” – Alex to Sawyer “Not In Portland” – Locke poster
“Actually, it’s ketchup.” – Hurley to Ghost Ana Lucia in “The Lie” – Hurley TV poster
Hmm… Probably not…
I think you’re on to something there actually. I hadn’t even thought of the quotes as having a meaning, but they’ve obviously chosen specfic ones.
Too me, it doesn’t really do justice to the scene. And that is a scene in general I think is better in concept than how it was execute, so while I wouldn’t have thought before to use that scene for the Love Triangle, I think it is a great choice. Too bad I think that style is completely inappropriate for it =(.
I dont know, kinda reminds me of the Edvard Munch “Scream” painting. Which is probably what Jack wanted to do when he saw Sawyer getting ready to lay Kate down.
Ho-hum. Doesn’t look like much work was put into it. I am sure there will be others who just love it.
Kind of “blah” compared to the others so far. What’s with that style of art, anyway? It looks like an illustration from a 7th grade Spanish book or something.
That might be the single most accurate way to describe this supposed piece of art
Great description! It really DOES look like something out of a child’s Spanish book.
It’s rather ameteurish. I’m surprised it’s being released for sale, as it looks like a kid drew it.
Actually, at second glance, it kind of looks like something from Homestar Runner.
Is that site still around…? (Checks…) Yes, it is.
To those saying its kinda blah and or meh…Its all in the eye of the beholder.
I’m not sure I follow your point, Diggler. The same can be said for those who like it–it’s ALL in the eye of the beholder. Does that mean those who dislike it shouldn’t say so? The whole point of a forum is for people to express their opinions. And this painting, in a number of fans’ opinion, is pretty weak.
Well, first…I never stated which side I fell on.
Second, no, it doesnt mean they shouldnt say so, but that does not mean that just because they think one way that thats the way it is or everyone else should think that too. Same goes for those who may like it.
We’re all allowed to post our thoughts, right? If one doesnt agree with or understand the other and they chose to take up space arguing their case…thats on them.
I have yet to see anyone do what you’re describing, on either side of the debate. No one has said that others should feel the way they do, or that their opinion is the only right one. Some have said they like it, while others have said they don’t, and no one has argued about it or shot down anyone else’s opinions. So I’m not sure where you’re coming from.
If one doesnt agree with or understand the other and they chose to take up space arguing their case…thats on them.
Different strokes for different folks.
Some think it is amateurish, some think it is good. Let’s leave it at that, folks.
Like.
Exactly. All people are saying is that they either do or don’t like the drawing (for the record, I agree with the “amateurish” sentiment–it’s similar to my kids’ artwork). And there’s nothing wrong with what people have been saying. The discussion has been friendly, non-combative and interesting, on both sides of the fence. No one needs to stop or change how they’re expressing themselves. Only diggler seems to have a problem with any of it (no offense, diggler–I’m not trying to be snarky or adversarial in saying that, just stating what’s going on…it’s all cool).
gosh darn, you guys have the wrong fracking idea. all I originally stated was that “its all in the eye of the beholder” a completely neutral statement. I never had a problem with anything. you guys really have a way with twisting around what people on this board are saying. I never said anyone needed to change what they are saying, I was never combative or un-friendly. All I did was give an opinion and then explain why I said that to someone who didnt understand me.
For the record, I thought it was well done, and if anyone doesnt agree with me, thats perfectly fine. were all allowed to think whatever we want.
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
There was nothing “completely neutral” about your statement, since it was aimed only at those who didn’t like the painting. Had you said ONLY that it’s in the eye of the beholder, and not specifically addressed those who dislike the painting, then yes, you’d have been completely neutral.
Hey, Doc! At the bottom of the page, it says “Return to Tope.” Is that a fancy way of spelling “Top?”
Just kidding–I figured you’d want to know, though. Since the “e” in “Tope” isn’t linked, it looks like an extra letter has been inserted in your page template.
How in the heck did that get in there! One word: Jugheadverse.
Well, I for one don’t agree entirely with the cries of amateurism. I believe the artist is a print maker, which is a different process from drawing/painting. Only seeing the end result doesn’t allow much appreciation for the process involved in creating it.
But, seriously, I think the LOST dudes are going to go for the widest range of artistic styles with this series so I’m sure this won’t be the last one that we hate. I expect to see macaroni art at any moment! (Paul Scheer promised!)
I still kinda feel though there is something that doesn’t capture the moment. This style may have been better suited for the jumping from the helicopter from a behind Jack perspective (something we didn’t really even get in the show, so it has bonus value!).
As for Macaroni art? my guess will be an epic ‘roni-rendition of Jacob On The Beach, lounging so fratily as he does. My inkling is that it will be a Dharma Logo for ‘The Temple’ (I think they’ve retconned symbols shown in the show before, right?)
*that was supposed to be an expression of wishes vs a more logical guess. I should write things in order more often to avoid that.
The style doesn’t do much for me, either, but I rather like the idea of the triangle being represented with Kate and Sawyer getting it on while Jack can only watch and cry.
Hey, Doc, did you pull down all of your articles from TheTailSection? I hope so. I’ve heard through the grapevine that BuddyTV is going to be taking the site down soon, due to the fact that its readership is at an all-time low (practically zero), and since no one ever posts any responses to any of the intermittent news stories posted at that site.
Speaking of which, Doc–what ever happened with you reposting your TTS articles here and bringing on a lawsuit after they stole your articles? You posted a couple of articles, and then nothing more was said of it. What’s the current status?
I think we need a drawing of Locke slamming the hatch door in frustration from Season One. I loved that moment and it was kinda funny, too. Makes my girlfriend laugh anyway – 4 seasons on.
Why is the 4 under the screen darker then the others?
It’s looking into the Alternate Univserse, where Jacob has a Bunker ruther than a cabin.
OR its just another example of why this ‘work of art’ ba-loows (that’s ‘blows’ stretched to the max!)
At least this is a Lost oriented poster not just a hippie van.
I like this one more everytime i see it.
I certainly respect your opinion, but I like it less every time I see it. It’s extremely amateurish. The composition is wrong. The style is far too simplistic, as if a child drew it. The control panels really do look like a 10-year-old drew them. And the Dharma logos don’t really fit the photo.
You certainly respect her opinion, but yet you had to come in and tell her how you feel about it. Almost like shes committed a crime for thinking different than you.
What the heck are you talking about, “Your name blows?” I wasn’t attacking wnt2kno in the slightest, and have no problem whatsoever with either her or her comment. I was just offering my opinion in response to hers. Your reply to me is just bizarre and antisocial.
No, offering would have went something like, “I certainly respect your opinion, but since I disagree, would you care to hear my reasons why?”
You flat out gave her your opinion as if what you say or think goes. I mean, you did single out her post and reply to it. You could have just made your on “I dont like it” post and then moved on.
I did no such thing. You’re just trying to create an argument where none exists. Relax.
And saying “I certainly respect your opinion, but since I disagree, would you care to hear my reasons why?” would have been a silly thing to say. What was I supposed to do then–wait for her to respond, “Why, yes, I would!” before giving my opinion? No, of course not–online forums don’t work that way. I told her I respected her opinion, then offered mine. It was as simple as that, and I doubt wnt2kno took it any other way.
It sure would have been polite of you. Internet forums are here so you can tell everyone just how much they are wrong and how right you are, right?
Dude, what the heck is wrong with you? Dano never said anyone was wrong and that he was right, and you know it. He said he respected the other poster’s opinion, then added that he didn’t like the painting. There is nothing wrong with his comments, and you’re the only person in this conversation who is acting like a jerk. Back off, and stop trying to create a fight between people who are getting along fine. Your brand of negativity isn’t needed here.
You dont get to tell me what to do. Jerk? yeah, I can dig it, motherfrackers just cant handle the truth. dont respond to me either.
“Your name blows,” it’s obvious you’re trolling for a fight, but I’m not taking the bait. I’m sure wnt2kno knows I have nothing but respect for her opinion, since I never indicated otherwise. wnt2kno, we’re cool, right?
“but I’m not taking the bait.”
at least not in this instance, right? why the hell did you even respond to anything i said before then? oh wait, you had to put me in my place, right? youre a fracking clown, mate. a sad clown at that.
Im rich and have tons of free time, thats why.
I looked at the poster again today and i even like it more!
I really like the jack figure and how depressed he looks — with the absolute minimum of characteristics to convey his emotions.
That’s the one part of the painting I really do like–Jack’s featureless figure somehow evokes an emotional reaction, and I’m sure that wasn’t an easy thing to achieve, so I have to completely agree with you on that one.
And he’s wearing my favorite shirt!
Well, I’m rather fond of Kate’s outfit in that scene as well.
my my my. While I certainly respect your opinion…I must say your just another flip flopping joke, dano.
