"Many people believe we will to go through a phase of global mass awakening. That’s not exactly what is going to happen."

I admire your confidence in your vision of the future Mirko! So, since you have such a clear vision, what is it that you do see happening, if not an awakening? I actually wrote a novel about what I see, and I'm curious if our ideas are similar. Though, I DO see an awakening. In fact, it's going on right now.

Hi Handsome Smitty. Just to be clear, I was writing with a touch of tongue in cheek there, but I do stand by the overall implication of what I wrote. Since I believe that materialism is based on nothing that is real, those who base their lives on it will be left with nothing as this illusionary material world we live in continues to fade away.

Our current society model is based on material pleasures, so a paradigm shift will have to occur for most people to find pleasure in more spiritual aspects of life.

Please do not confuse the idea of peace, harmony, and equality with communism. The world that I believe is coming, is one where we realize we are all one, and therefore we all want to share since it benefits us all. Certainly there are elements of communism in that concept, but I think the biggest difference is that it's not being forced, nor is it undesirable. It's the realization that we are all part of one body, and that when the right hand smashes the left hand, the entire body feels the pain.

Smitty, if you believe bad things are coming, you're creating a self-fulfilling prophesy for yourself. Major changes ARE definitely coming, but there are many possible outcomes to this. Do you want to jump into the timeline where it ends in disaster, or ends in a more peaceful, loving, harmonious world? It sounds like you've already made your choice, but I hope you decide to reconsider. You have nothing to lose! Literally.

Thanks for the comment elijahmoon. I agree that we will not land on the path of fate all by itself. That's what I meant when I wrote about being "proactive"--I believe we have to challenge ourselves and go outside our comfort zone. Our path requires that we grow, and we grow through challenges. It is not a breeze in that everything goes perfectly and effortlessly. It is a breeze in that we are pulling ourselves, instead of being pushed by destiny. It's all a state of mind really. Two people can go through the exact same situation, one bitching and struggling, the other looking at it as a growing experience. For the second, it's more of a breeze, or peaceful if you'd like to term it that way. It's all how you look at it from within.

Hi Marc!

Thanks a lot for sharing your insights with us lost geeks!
I do totally agree with you about the spiritual dimension that clearly has always been an integral part of the show and propably will play an even larger role on the upcoming endgame events of the last season. There's such a strong connection to the current condition of the planet. Many people believe we will to go through a phase of global mass awakening. That's not exactly what is going to happen. But a lot things will change...

Remember the Three Jewels of Bhuddism
Where Dharma is, is also Sangha. There's no Sangha without Buddha.

Namasté

"That her selfishness, ego, and dependence on material pleasures would likely cause her to be very befuddled during the coming spiritual revolution! All around us, material greed is eroding, the unethical are being outed and punished, and those who define themselves by what they have, rather than what they are, are finding themselves in a very unhappy place, indeed."

The coming world of Karl Marx.

No thanks.

"Material greed" and "selfishness" are simply issues of security. If people are giving these things up, it is for the more selfish issue of survival. The collectivist ideals are about a whole and not the individual.

If you think happy times come out of that, oboy....

I believe bad things are coming. Perhaps the "spiritual" lessons of "Lost" (sorry, just another drama making someone bunches of money and a little fame) will help the "masses" deal with the drudgery that will be their lives.

I love the show. Started watching after season 3. Went and rented season one then bought season two and waited for season 3 to come out to buy it. Since then, I have never missed an episode on TV [season 4 and 5]. That being said, one of my favorite themes of the show is the connectivity of people. In that regard the show has completly shifted my paradigm. They way I see it now is that every person I ever wanted to meet, Im really already connected to in some way however distant. There is a special connection I feel amongst other LOST fans tho. I don’t think its possible one could watch every episode and not feel the same way :) All that being said, lol. I believe there was and is a "plan A" path for our lives. I believe you have to steer your life towards that path. I believe that you can get off the path and still return. In the end you may or may not be as far as "plan A" should have taken you but that’s not the point. I like your statement here Doc:

If you have a sense of what you are meant to do and are proactive about doing it, life will be a breeze. However, if you have no clue, or resist, you will constantly struggle to go a different way than fate has declared you must go because you have already done so.

Except for I think you can be doing all the right things and major trouble can still befall you so "breeze" might not be the word I would use, maybe peaceful.
Ultimately what Im getting to here is I don’t believe "fate" is gonna land you on that "plan A" path all by its onesies. If this where the case what would be the need for rearview mirrors on cars? I mean fuck it, just rip em off and slam that bitch in reverse. Its our destiny right? No need for locks on doors, no need to get out of bed really. In the case of our show it doesn’t matter if they all go back to the island together right? Cause whatever is supposed to happen is gonna happen anyways... Lets just all have a martini and wait for it...

So In that regard I don’t feel the same. I feel the majority of people 99.999999% of humans don’t fulfill their destiny. Not plan a, b or c. Shit most of us probably end up on plan Z. :) I do feel that it has to do with the materialism you mentioned among other isms that have led us astray. Hopefully there is a spiritual revolution in the making and we can return to that path, myself included.

So Im curious to see how this theme plays itself out in our show one way or the other Im know what I know and I love the show! PEACE!
