What if Richard expects Locke to recognize the compass as his because Locke was supposed to have gained the power to project his consciousness back in time, a power that Desmond instead gained through activating the Swan station failsafe? We are led to believe the island chose Locke to find the Hatch, and indeed Locke was the one most committed to pressing the button until the island led him through a dream to the Pearl station. That discovery in turn led to Locke smashing the Dharma computer in the Swan station, requiring the failsafe to be activated. But it was Desmond instead of Locke who activated the failsafe, and so it is Desmond instead of Locke who now can travel through time.

So Richard thinks his test shows that Locke is not the one, when in fact Locke is the one, but the universe is in need of a course correction due to Desmond’s replacing Locke at the key moment of the Swan station implosion. Hmmmm….

Actually, this isn’t obvious. Not many people know what “Jughead” is in reference too. I still see posts with people theorizing that this is Sawyer’s new nickname for Aaron.

jackisjacob…what the hell r u rambling on about??????the title is jughead which refers to the first hydrogen bomb…obviosuly there’s gonna be a bomb on the island and so forth….faraday to the rescue….tapdawg, am i close???

not got even a little clue as to what this ep is going to be about. un like other eps it hasent really got a clue in the title. Oh well i cant wait to just keep watching it

I suppose that’s why Richard stormed out of the house when 5 year John picked the knife: he was supposed to pick the compass. Love those little connections.

What are The Rules? I hope they tell us soon, because I’m really getting sick of those “I’d love to tell you, but we have to go” cop-outs.
