THE WAY BACK TO THE ISLAND IS REVEALED
TO THE OCEANIC 6, ON ABC’S “LOST”
“316″ – The way back to the island is revealed to members of the Oceanic 6, but there’s trouble ahead when not all of them wish to return, on “Lost,” WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 18 (9:00-10:02 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
Note: This program will repeat Wed., Feb. 25 from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET.
“Lost” stars Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Henry Ian Cusick as Desmond, Jeremy Davies as Daniel Faraday, Michael Emerson as Ben, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Ken Leung as Miles, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet and Terry O’Quinn as Locke.

If you watch the Ajira Airways website video and slow it down with the slider, you will see a man holding a white sign that says 316
Can 316 be referring to the famous Bible passage John 3:16?
“…For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life….”
There used to be a guy who would show up at football games and other events holding a sign that said John 3:16.

Anyone wanna bet 316 is the new bearing they have to be on to get to the island?
I am inclined to believe that 316 is a bearing. However I also believe that this number was chosen specifically by the creators for its cultural/religous implications, ala John 3:16 as mentioned above. The idea that you must follow one man, and only one man, to be granted the keys to heaven and the kingdom of eternal life, follows on heavily of the idea of John Locke playing the Christ figure, coming to tell them all of his plan, dying, and then “rising” again in 70 hours or 3 days.
