Question: I miss Claire on Lost. Emilie de Ravin is such a great actress. Will she be back for all of next season? –Kelly
Ausiello: Yes! After sitting out last season, de Ravin will return as a full-time series regular for Lost’s sixth and final season, Team Darlton confirms. “Damon and I are very excited to bring Claire back to the show,” says Carlton Cuse, “and even more excited for people to experience just how she will return.” And even more exciting that that? Experiencing Doc Jensen’s theory on how she’ll return. Take it away, DJ:
“Any scenario that brings Claire back to Lost must address the mysterious circumstances of her disappearance at the end of season 4, in which many of us were led to believe that she was as dead — or rather, undead — as the Ghost Christian that’s been haunting The Island since season 1. So here’s one thought: Juliet changed time in the season finale by detonating Jughead, and season 6 will tell the story of the new timeline, one in which Claire is alive. Another thought: In light of the revelation that John Locke was actually a supernatural impostor for half of season 5, perhaps in season 6, we’ll get a storyline in which Claire just emerges out of the jungle, with no memory of what happened to her — just like season 1 — and we and the castaways will be left to wonder: Is this the real Claire or another impostor infiltrating them a la Locke? Heck, maybe that’s going to be the major idea of next season: Who’s really alive and who’s really (un)dead? It really will be the fabled zombie season of Lost!” Thanks a million, Doc!

My first guess is that Claire might return as Jacob. Bram and Ilana referred to Frank being potentially useful as a “candidate”, without explaining what they meant. It could be that Jacob might return in the body of Frank or Claire, just as Esau is using a body double of Locke.
Very unlikely, seeing as Claire was last seen with Christian in the cabin and we know from Iliana that Jacob had not been in the cabin for quite some time, so I have a feeling that Christian is Man#2. And NOT Smokey. Smokey is it’s own entity. I added the last line because it seems popular these days for people to theorize that Man#2 IS Smokey.
As far as Claire goes, I am thinking that their was a change to the time-line and Claire is alive.
So Claire disappeared for an entire season and this mystery will be “solved” by a change in timeline? Then why have her disappear at all?
I don’t believe that there will be a timeline change. The story has been too intricately planned for things to be undone.
If everything on the show happens for a reason, then a timeline change would be a huge cop out.
i totally agree, there is way too much talk of cancelling everything that has happened so far. people being like “oh, they’ll bring back charlie!” and such nonsense.
I want everyone to go on record concerning a timeline change so some of us will have a good laugh at the expense of the rest of us.
No timeline change. The writers are too smart for that. And no need to be snippy!
No timeline change!!
But snippy is so much more fun and memorable!
Ya know, you’re right – snip away!
No time line change. This will ruin the show.
No new timeline.
Claire is alive otherwise Miles would not have SEEN her in season 4. He said he can only sense dead people.
Did he see Christian? I can’t remember whether he saw him, or merely saw Claire talking to him…
yes, he saw Christian. He said to someone “she left with someone she called dad”. Not positive about exactly what Miles said but sure he did see Christian.
All we know is that Claire was sitting by a lovely campfire with Sawyer and Miles then Christian came for a visit to hold the baby in the middle of the night where her responce was “Dad!?”. She acknowledged Christian as dad for the first time then…Aaron was left a few feet from the camp. The next morning Miles was wide awake he said to Sawyer she walked off in the jungle and with an attitude reminded Sawyer’s threat in coming to close to her, if we remember miles gave her a weird look that sparked Sawyer all it takes is a look in the show to go back and say “wow, he knew”. I’m guessing a flash will show us the conversation the two had that night and Miles listening in…Miles has the opportunity for the show to answer our questions such as talking to Locke’s body, letting people know Nikki and Paulo were not dead, Adam and Eve, the DI pile-on of the dead. But what side is he on….why would Bram tell him he’s on the wrong side when we know Bram and Illana are pro-Jacob, was it becasue of Widmore or something else?
Miles wasn’t there yet for Nikki and Paulo…
Yes. Bram said he was on the wrong side because he was working for Widmore.
If I remember right, he can only read recently dead bodies.
He did say he wanted to convince him to not work for Widmore, but he also said Miles was “playing for the wrong team” which could mean anything in the grand scheme.
True, but he only needs to be near the bodies to speak with them
Been thinking a lot about it, and I don’t think the timeline will be altered. After all, dead is dead on LOST, and too many of our survivors died over the course of the last five seasons. Bringing them all back to the show would be very difficult and not very likely. That’s on a practical, filmmaking level.
On a more fictional level, using an alternate timeline would nullify the rules of the show, be a cheat to the audience (on par of the “it’s-all-a-dream” ending), and sully all of the emotional investment we’ve had in these characters since episode one.
I’m not quite sure yet where things will be going next season — my speculation is that the bomb somehow rattled the donkey wheel out of place again and whisked our castaways to another time before they could be incinerated at ground zero. This may put them in another save the Island scenario. After all, if the Island is indeed a living entity, as many of us believe, why would it allow anyone to kill it without self-defense? When the first hydrogen bomb was tested on Bikini Atoll, it wiped the island off the map. The same would no doubt happen here.
My theory, though, is riddled in paradoxes. I just don’t believe the timeline can be changed based on the rules the writers have worked so hard to institute in this series.
Here is a wild idea, change the timeline, but show that just because the timeline changed, or perhaps in spite of it, NOTHING actually changed. They call it Fate.
A new timeline comes to mind quickly to explain away everything that’s happened and any paradoxes that may be prevalent, but you’re missing the obvious…what’s done is done!
While I lean on the side of no (big) time-line change, if only because there’s not much time to resolve a new mess of giant proportions…I still think it’s possible in the sense that it would “save” Jacob and the LOST writers have no doubt worked things out to a very intricate degree and I trust that they could do that in a satisfying (and unpredictable) way.
My guess is that they may start the season much like season 1 (or just have a main character interacting with a dead one like Charlie), but use the old dream trick.
It’s their last chance to do another epic “where are we?” season intro.
I like to watch Supernatural and also Lost, becous the sexy cast lol. BTW found this site on google, searched for some TV Show Plot.
i think the time line will change… but in a way where(sum or all 815rz) will keep (sum or all) of there memoriez/experience… b4 da nerdz say that makes no sense onda spacetimecontinubooble, consider this iz lost and the island iz a harsh mistress… u dont get 2 trash the island and just leave without a care, i cant explain the state of da island (iz it intact when 815 touchez down in LAX?) or the islandz intentionz 2ward da 815rz… will it only bring back the important onez?? anywayz i thought of this when i heard that kate will b in a taxi with claire at lax, claire will play a guide reveling she rememberz da island and that her dad (christian) haz told her wat the 815rz r 2 do.. and kate and/or claire will have 2 lead the unpredictable and challenging task of getting our ppl back and her scepticism will b gone and her jack and wheely locke will be faithrz asking ppl at the airport if they want join theyre knew religion…. joking at da end….. our locke aint going back in a chair… LOL happy holidayz
i agree with frodo’z unquestionable logic… lets continue listening, in the hope that we may learn enough 2 parrot hiz brilliance
