I maintain that Walt's story is effectively over, and I won't be sad if we never see him again. I've read that David Fury interview, and it gives me the impression that he conceived of Lost as a hodgepodge of The Shining, various zombie movies, and various apocalyptic disease movies. I for one am glad all that stuff turned out to be red herrings, because it would've been awfully derivative. Maybe Walt just wasn’t that important to the story they wanted to tell? I maintain that Walt’s story is effectively over, and I won’t be sad if we never see him again.
