For those of you who didn’t realize, last night’s episode officially marked the halfway point in Lost’s sixth and final season. In honor of celebrating this historic occaision, I’ve put together a small list of awards that you, the readers, can vote on! Below, you’ll find the name of an award, a small description, and a list of nominees. Leave your votes in the comments (I’ll even include a handy voting-template that you can use if you so wish!) The notion that last night marked the halfway point is inaccurate. There are 18 hours in the final season and last night was the 8th, so technically we’re 44.4% through the season. Even if you count by episodes, that was 7 out of 16.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up about David being important. He’s going to go into the LOST Hall of Fame of characters who show up in flashbacks/forwards/sideways who seem important but have no relevance to the overall mythology of the show. Other first ballot Hall of Famers are Annie(Ben), Brother Campbell(Desmond) Theresa(Daniel), and Mr. Paik(Sun and Jin). They are there to add to the story of our main characters, but everybody wants to make more of them. If you think about it, none of them have been seen for more than a total of about 5 minutes, yet people spend hours theorizing about their importance. That’s what makes the writing of this show so great…but I wouldn’t bet on David even showing up again, let alone being important to the overall story.
Actually,
I can say with all certainty that David will appear in 3 more episodes. I know the actor that plays him and he said that he is in 4 episodes total this season. He actually just got back from Hawaii a week and a half ago from shooting his most recent episode.

You can really tell which characters the writers are inspired by and which ones they can’t think of a story for (Kate, Sun, Jin, Miles).
7. Worst Character Story: Sun looking for Jin (or in other words, Sun standing around, saying nothing and not looking for Jin. Why have they done this to Sun? She was hardcore for a few episodes and then they just forgot her)

This one isn’t an official entry, but thought it worth mentioning
10. Best one-liner: Hurley to Jack after Jack lit a stick of dynamite and sat down to talk to Richard: “If you change your mind, I’ll be waiting like, a mile away”
For me, the best one liner so far is Sawyer telling UnLocke why he’s on the island: “…Because my plane crashed, my raft blew up and the helicopter I was riding on was one too heavy…”
Oh that WAS a good one too.
I’ll throw my hat into the ring…Hurley to Jack earlier in Dr. Linus…”This is old school. You know… you and me trekking through the jungle, on our way to do something that we don’t quite understand. Good times.” Just a great line for so many reasons.
Pretty much sums up the relationship between the show and its fans this season, doesn’t it?
The more that I think about it, that line was probably earlier than Dr. Linus, it was probably in The Lighthouse or Sundown, either way, the point is the same.
Ha! That’s a good one too. Hurley kills me. Good times.
Lapidus – “Weirdest damn funeral I’ve ever been to.”
That line actually made me laugh when he said it.
For some reason “We’ll be in the food court” is my favorite. It doesn’t even make any sense but I found it absolutely hilarious.

(I fully believe, even with Ben, Locke and Sawyer having great character arcs, ultimately Jack will be the one to embody what the writers are trying to say with the series. When all’s said and done, Ben, Locke, et al will be tools – albeit useful, entertaining tools – used to support the story that Jack embodies in his relationship to the island, to Jacob, his father and himself.
