It is not unexpected Ambivalentman!! It is in fact sterotypical cliche gobbledygook that makes up the Sawyer and Juliet relationship.
Its called SETTLING for a cliche, and it NEVER WORKS.
Every time I see them together I throw up a little in my mouth and as much as I love the show and as deep as I am in the mythology and as many hours as I spend online reading about theories and physics and Bentham, if the Sawyer and Juliet thing had happened earlier in the show, I probably would have stopped watching. Its exactly the kind of cliche that the Lost boys should be WELL above.

I actually like the pairing of Sawyer and Juliet. It brings wrinkles to their characters that were unexpected. This is typical LOST, though. They create a stereotype and turn it on its ear. Sawyer and Juliet are the “happy domestic couple.” After all, Juliet makes Sawyer food and dotes on him like a loving wife. But, as with all of LOST’s relationships, there’s a twist coming that we won’t see.

Sometimes I get frustrated with all the “shippers” out there focused on being frustrated with the relationships in the story. Personally, I like the different variations on the romantic relationships in the story. Creating a love-quadrangle was yet another example of LOST’s ability to break the mold. We seldom see something so daring in most romances.

Haha, Seabiscuit. Totally agree with you and Jennifer on this. I am bored already. I was bored the minute I saw Sawyer pick a plant but I was ready to roll with it hoping they would have cut it off by now but if they are telling me that I have to load up on my Glucophage and Daonil tablets because the outbreak of diabetes is gonna last a wee longer, then who is perpetually brain farting in the writers conference at the Lost office?. Nobody is saying throw Sawyer and Kate into each others arms straight away(though it would not hurt the ratings let me tell ya) but we can live without the soporific Sawyer and Juliet as well. Just stick to numbers and monsters till you are all happy that you have kept the OTP apart long enough, then crank it up because by then the world at large will be desperate for some of the chemistry we got in previous seasons between Sawyer and Kate.

I like “Mr. and Mrs. Schmoopypants”. Mr. and Mrs. Smug would work well too, though. I couldn’t put my finger on what I didn’t like about Juliet and Sawyer together, but I’ve figured it out – They’re one of those couples that act really self-satisfied with their domestic bliss, thereby becoming more annoying and smug in regular life. But since there’s a current of insecurity running through their relationship it only exacerbates the smugness projected to others.

Of course, I’m probably reading WAAAAAAAAAY to much into this, since it’s a television show and the product of writers and actors, but – I don’t think Sawyer would act like such a jerk if he and Kate were finally together. Kate, when she’s not being fickle and crazy, lends Sawyer a softness and compassion that would have found expression in something better than becoming part of “the damn Dharma Initiative.”

I hope they break those two up sooner rather than later.

Thank you Kristen! Sawyer and Juliet are good for each other and happy I might add. Kate is really there for Aaron.
