Well, there’s 30 seconds I could have spent watching the Quatro promo again. Exactly what I expected from ABC.

  2. Shinto says:

You’d think ABC would actually proofread the text appearing in its videos, to avoid typos. How unprofessional.

  3. Handsome Smitty says:

    Meh.

Wow, must’ve been sleeping at the wheel – I thought it was Jan. 16! Bummer.

  4. RichM says:

While i’m very glad ABC granted Damon and Carlton’s wish of not showing any S6 footage in the promos, i do wish they were a bit more extravagant with existing clips. (Like the Quatro one)

  5. Adam says:

Whats the significance of showing Kate and Sawyer doing it at the very beginning? They couldnt show something more relevant? haha!

  6. cekma says:

they are really doing a terrible job promoting the final season of the show. Treating it like any old show and any old season.

    • Uncle Beaver says:

Hopefully, they’ll go gangbusters during January promotions to try getting some of the casual viewers back.

I do hope that the network sticks to Lindeloff and Cuse’s plan of no new footage, to keep it mysterious for us.

      • casual viewers? how can one, at this point, enjoy the show only causually?

        • LOST has no casual viewers. We’re all obsessive and analyze things to the end.

Ok, not all of us, but the vast majority. This is not a show that is forgiving to casual viewers. Basically if you’ve watched the show you’re going to watch. If you haven’t, you won’t. If you think they’re doing a terrible job, you really don’t understand the term “cult following.” It’s not like they’re pimping CSI.

    • Mesa says:

Yea, the two promos they have shown so far are pretty regular. I mean, come on, the promos for season 5 were better!

Also, has anyone else noticed the LOST logo is different this year? It’s almost the same shade of whitish-blue and it’s really bugging me.

    • dan says:

Damon and Carlton aren’t letting them use any new footage so there’s really not much they can do. I’m figuring ABC knows the core fans will turn in for the last season regardless and aren’t trying to “wow” anyone.

      • GeigerCounter says:

Just because I’m a huge fan doesn’t mean they don’t have to wow me. Of course I’m going to watch with or without promos, but I still want to see them and I want to see them done good. The quatro promo was a great example of the kind of advertising the show should have.

Also, I think “not trying to ‘wow’ anyone” goes against everything promotion stands for.

        • Actually it doesn’t. This is a show with a devoted audience. If you’re the expert, what do you think the promos should accomplish? Bring in new viewers (Because they’d know EXACTLY what’s going on)? Excite current viewers (If you aren’t excited for the final season, there’s something wrong with you)?

          • GeigerCounter says:

Have you even read my post before you replied to it? It sure doesn’t look that way.

          • dp2 says:

Then why promote it at all?

You don’t have to be an advertising expert to recognize that something has failed.

  7. Chelsy says:

I still feel that the best promo they ever did, that had absolutely no footage from the show at all, was the creepy one for season three where Michael Emerson does the voice over that began with you not knowing who was speaking(he would be instantly recognizable now though, lol) as they show various shots of Eko, and other characters on a jungle set, and then they turn the camera on him as he says, “And what could be more terrifying, than that?” It scared the crap out of me when I saw it first, as during the summer, I had practically forgotten that Henry Gale had kidnapped anybody, and that just put the focus of their capture front and center for me which really got me excited and didn’t disappoint. That promo along with most of the episodes of season three, made that the best season of LOST for me by far. While every season has stand out episodes, I just prefer season three as it was the balance between old, classic LOST(beach, confused survivors) and new LOST(psychic flashes, Time travel, and Dharma).

  8. I can’t believe some of you complaining about this. Yeah, the Cuatro promo is awesome, I agree. But what do you want?

Damon and Carlton have made a network do something that is virtually unheard of – promote a show with no new footage. Trust me, in today’s TV world, that is a HUGE accomplishment. For those knocking the promos, what do you want (that doesn’t include new footage)? Personally, these promos get me super excited, because they help relieve what we’ve seen, and prepare us for something new. Those complaining are either the kind of people who NEED spoilers to survive, or are just complaining to complain. Really, it’s the the final season. What else is needed other than those three words?

    • GeigerCounter says:

What do we want? You already know that. I want the cuatro promo and other promos like it. It proves that you can make an interesting and CREATIVE promo without any new footage.

Also, I am not the kind of person who needs spoilers. I avoid spoilers at all cost. I didn’t not go on the internet the whole week before the finale aired last season just so I could make sure I wouldn’t find out anything by accident.

    • neoloki says:

Crazy I’m with you. I could care less about the promos. They are superfluous. Don’t get me wrong it would be great to get beyond these pedestrian ABC takes, but I don’t expect anything interesting until January. Personally, I am not a fan of the Quatro promo. That chess board just looks bad and the hand of god slamming old four toes on it was laughable, I mean, seriously, that was fuc*ing funny. I laughed my ass off.

    • dp2 says:

Then tell us why ABC created this promo. They put it out there for a reaction. If not to get viewers excited — which it fails to do — then why?
