Variety is reporting that Damon Lindelof has signed on as one of the screenwriters for the currently untitled sequel to the Star Trek film being released in May.
Lindelof who was a producer on the upcoming film, but not a writer said “There’s obviously a lot of hubris involved in signing on to write a sequel of a movie that hasn’t even come out yet, But we’re so excited about the first one that we wanted to proceed.”
Lindelof will join Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci on the writing team, and it is expected Abrams will be back, defintitely a producer but possibly as a director.
The new film stars Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Karl Urban as Bones, and Simon Pegg as Scotty.
