Sure it’s at the last minute, but why not make some Emmy predictions.  Not that there are more than a couple that will really be of most importance to us LOST-heads.

Of the two main Emmy nominations, the best shot we seem to have is Michael Emerson.  I’d love to see LOST win for best drama, and I thoroughly believe that “The Constant,”  which was the episode submitted for the category, best contains the eclectic mix of theme, fantasy, and story telling that makes LOST so thoroughly awesome – but I still don’t think the Emmy board will get it.  Don’t get me wrong, I hope they do — it’s an elitist thing.

Michael Emerson, on the other hand, has Emmy pedigree and consistency on his side.  This was a good year for Ben in the sense of his pallet.  He’s added action hero, anti-hero, and cosmic conniver to his repertoire – amongst other things.  The biggest competition seems to come from Damages and Mad Men.  All the hype of William Shatner, who has won twice, seems more his PR machine than anything else.

So what do you guys think?  Will we be robbed again?  Does it matter?  Tune in below.

Michael Emerson will definitely win the Emmy for best supporting actor!
On the other side, I’m not pretty sure in the drama category…there were some sci-fi elements in the fourth season that might affect the real image for Lost… No, I LOVE THIS SHOW, but still – Emmy voters are not fans of science fiction… :(

However, I still hope that Lost’s gonna win in the both categories…

I have a feeling Mad Men is going to win best drama.

emerson did some of the best acting this past season on the show that ive seen in a long time. my fav scene is when he turns the frozen donkey wheel, love that. the constant is one of my fav episodes in 4 years of LOST, glad they picked that one. hopefully LOST will have some wins this year.

If it was in my hand: Ted Danson or Zeljko Ivanek (Damages) should win in the Supporting Actor category, they made a terrific job.
And in Best Drama, well, I haven’t seen Mad Men,but “Damages” (incredible well constructed)and “Dexter” were the best this year (in my opinion). And in comedy, I’m biased, I’m a “The Office” unconditional.
So, for me, no awards for “Lost”.

graham – you’re stupid. damages was retarded

  6. I truly hope LOST wins best drama, but I’m not holding my breath. Not because I think the other nominees are more awesome, because I don’t watch them. LOST is simply too good for the Emmy voters to get. I will, of course, rejoice if LOST wins, but I’m not counting on it. Remember the saying, “Expect the worst, but hope for the best”?

On the other hand, Michael Emerson has a very good chance of winning best supporting actor. I don’t think any other actor would have accomplished what he accomplished as Benjamin Linus. I’ll be happy even if only Michael Emerson wins.

MAD MEN? Its not hard to create something from the past. Creating something truly original takes talent. Copying the lives of advertising executives for television? Sure artsy to some, but award winning? Lost has out done most shows on the “artistic” spectrum and hasn’t had a marketing book to use as its manual. Developing the kind of show that LOST is takes more effort for one scene that Mad Men takes for its entire season.

  8. I just wanted to thank you for this post.
