Well the game seems to have finally, officially started (knock on wood).  The first challenge is a Tangramish puzzle, which is weird because my first theory on the dharma dots was that it was a Tangram.  Completely unrelated, but anywho.  Here are some tips for solving the puzzle and posting some impressive times (hopefully more impressive than mine).

1) There are always two pieces that do not belong.
2) The two extras are seldom corner pieces, so…
3) start in the corners then the wall pieces.

I played about six times and only saw one false corner piece.  For entertainment purposes, here is a video of me fumbling through one of the videos and scoring a very weak 72.

72’s not weak… I’ve always stunk at these games, even from elementary school. I’m proud of my 57!

  2. anonymous says:

Does this website hate Apple computers? Since the “game” was enacted, I can’t access the site. I have the Safari and Opera browsers. Neither work. Anyone have any suggestions?

  3. clayb says:

I don’t think the website hates PC or Mac, it just doesn’t seem to like too many visitors period. This is still an obsurdly boring ARG in my opinion.

  4. DocArzt says:

Anonymous. I’m on a MAC. It could simply be a load issue… still

  5. Charlie's Ghost says:

There are still sites with js, flash, etc that get hung up on Safari. I’d use Firefox on a Mac. No problems.

  6. Well, I’ve managed to make a whopping high score of 79% so far but I’m averaging in the 50s and 60s. If you really, really want to do well on this, and you have some time and patience, you can sketch the puzzle out ahead of time on a poece of paper since the clock doesn’t start until you move your first piece. Obviously it’s not fool-proof due to staging overlap but still, I’ve found the more prep work you do before the clock starts the better.

Regarding the site itself….I’m using Firefox and sometimes I have to walk away from the computer for awhile for the site to load properly. It’s very inconsistent….again, depending upon how many people are on at the same time, I guess.

  7. Burial says:

83 is my best score after 10 mins playing it.

  8. Anonymous says:

Doc Arzt – I noticed in your video that you start placing the pieces right away. I wanted to let you know that the timer does not start until you move the first piece. So before you start I suggest you look over the pieces for a second. Someone informed of this, and it helped quite a bit.

Best score I can get is 83, and that only happened once, I think I just got lucky…

  9. Drake says:

Do you need a T1 to access it? Won’t load from my office or home.

  10. Anonymous says:

got a best score of 77….i’m guessing thats not so bad

  11. Doug A Scott says:

It took me four tries to finish a square at all, ending up with a score of 53. Can’t see myself doing any better than that.

  12. GeronimoJacksonGroupie says:

This ARG is completely disapointing. Hoodlum — the company in charge of the game — has dropped the ball and weren’t prepared. On top of that the game is boring. I keep thinking that maybe they will add some kind of twist soon and then the real game will begin but I’m afraid that we’ll just be playing pointless games until season 5 begins.

  13. DocArzt says:

Nice tip anonymous! I’ll add that to the bullets. I’ve managed to achieve an 81 since the video was made.

  14. richard keenan says:

i cant get it to load on any browser either, doh! and doc, 53,000 on that other game, jeeez! i got 17k and felt like jobe from lawnmower man!! i give up :)

  15. sola says:

Any of you think it’s possible to hit 90%? I can’t get past 84… I wonder if there are some geniusses out there… well, I’ll keep trying. But the whole thing doesn’t really convince me yet. Heavy programming coupled with loads of visitors… me thinks they underestimated the response.

  16. Samfishercell says:

I got 86, but it seems impossible to get more than that. I’m a little discouraged by the thought of “leader boards” as I’m sure they’ll end up hacked soon like most online games.

I’ve got to say, by and large Hoodlum was not the right choice for this. They seemed to drop the ball multiple times on Find815, what made Damon+Carlton think they were the right choice again? Did Hoodlum run the original Lost Experience?

  17. pic369 says:

    84 yay!

  18. doyousmellcarrots says:

javi aka djdan produced the lost experience.

  19. mtnorsea says:

…and you don’t even get a cookie when you finish the puzzle…no clue, no sneak peek, no “go to this website and get your secret message”…nothin. what’s the point of doing puzzles if you don’t get a prize when you finish it? ARG? more like arrrgggghhh!!!

  20. tapdawg says:

The best score i could get is 85%

  21. samfishercell says:

carrots — do you know who the development house was behind TLE was?

I don’t know if it’s the content, or the actual product that’s faltering this time around, but it sure seems to be a mix of both. Very disappointing. At least with TLE there was SOMETHING happening pretty consistently between all the cross promotional sites, the podcasts, etc.

I’m also up to 87…almost had higher but the pieces were SLIGHTLY off. Very frustrating.

  22. BlastDoorMap says:

    This is so frustrating.
Now that there’s a game to play, I can’t get past the Login screen… it just keeps “Loading”…

  23. Anonymous says:

The original TLE was developed by hi-res, a London based company.

  24. Ailyn says:

Best I could get was 80%, and that was after 10 minutes of playing. Then again, I am a little sleepy. It’s possible I’ll do better, but I was usually averaging in the 60s. I think I’ll keep my 80 and wait for next test. lol. When do you guys expect that’ll be? Next MILLENIA? lol

  25. bruno says:

I agree- i also have problems with test 1 loading on my computer! And the 1 time i did get it loaded, i realised its pretty boring. Find815 was much better.

  26. Paul says:

I just got an 88, after topping out at 84 previously, since its all in fun, heres a tip, the timer doesnt start till you start clicking, so take some time and figure it in your head, know where the 4 corners are first, and u shouldnt get lower than a 75 anymopre

    Have fun!

  27. gabjay says:

mmm still loading issues when logging in. Ps mtnorsea – the arrgggghhhh comment, haha brilliant!

  28. Robert.M says:

@Paul thx for the tip :)
    Just improved from 85 to 89: http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/7241/dwycomtest189qi6.jpg

  29. XmasDVD says:

Best score – 91 after several tries.

  30. jake says:

    Time IS the essence,

press space after u select the first piece…..

    see what happens.

  31. TrillianM says:

That’s not bad at all Doc! I got 58 on my first try but I’m up to 85 now for my highest. Not all versions of the test are created equal…some are WAY easier than others.

  32. Sagebeth says:

82 here… Would love to try a few more times but my brain might explode due to horribly boring puzzles and seemingly pointless actions.

  33. TrillianM says:

New high score for me 99!

    don’t miss this comment above:

    jake said:
    Time IS the essence,

—not sure if 100 is possible or not

  34. Anonymous says:

    xzc

  35. Daniel says:

so is the ’space’ trick a glitch or is there something more meaningful to it?

  36. Jake says:

    The title of the test…

    Pressurized Spatial Judgement Evaluation

    PRESSurized SPAtial = Press Space??

    …intentional

  37. sola says:

Yup, got a 99… 100 seems to be impossible… why don’t I ever notice such things?!

PRESSurized SPAtial = Press Space?? .. totally makes sense now. The title struck me a bit odd but I couldn’t nail it…

I am no genius, but thanks to you folks I can pretend now :D

  38. sola says:

It does spoil the fun, though… I’m still gonna keep on trying to beat my 84.

  39. docarzt says:

No way that it is a glitch. It must be intentional.

  40. TrillianM says:

True it does spoil the fun a little but it DOES make the game as a whole seem a little more promising. And encourages me to look for stuff like that in the next test so now I’m more excited for the next test than I was before.

  41. Burial says:

100% is possible for certain so which bright spark is gonna find out the other hidden meaning to get the last 1%?

  42. woo-hoo!
    80

    i think that’s pretty good … right?

  43. Paul says:

    @jake….brilliant
lol, apparently just figuring out that i had time before it started wasn’t enough
    99 here too
    very cool

  44. Faith says:

A lot of people are saying that space bar thing is an intentional cheat. o_o I think it is myself. Most people are getting 99% and can’t get any higher. Oddly, I played it without got a stinky 58%. Did the cheat got a 97%. Did it over 98%, did over again got 99% I tried it again and still 99%

I do hope this will pick up and we’ll get more “I am on the inside” type stuff.

  45. Burial says:

I just checked the dharmawantsyou site and i see now they have a leaderboard and “my progress” page.
When i look at my progress page i am told i am in group “Ganymede” (anagram?)
And my Dharma points are 10.
    Anybody with any different results?

I was dissapointed that there is nothing on the leaderboard to explain exactly why they are leaders (i.e points scored)

I’m wondering what i am missing as i’m sure there is something.

  46. Lisa says:

I’m new here. (yet I have been following the group) Burial, do you know how you got the 10 points ? I’m in the Ganymede group ( which is a moon of Jupiter) it says I have 0 points :-( ((

  47. Burial says:

A couple of things to add.. wiki has a couple of interesting pages on Ganymede 1 being to do with astronomy the other greek mythology. (the 2 go hand in hand i guess tho)

I also clicked on “what is this” on the leaderboard which lets you know that apart from the tests you can score points by inviting others to the recruitment program (this “spam your mates” system of earning points sucks tbh)

  48. sola says:

I am in the Pandora Group… whatever that means… I am not gonna spam my friends, though.

  49. Faith says:

Pandora is also a Greek god and this: Pandora, a moon of Saturn. 55 Pandora, an asteroid. Both from Wiki. So maybe each group goes by a moon of a planet.

    I’m also a Ganymede.

  50. glitter says:

I’m in Ganymede too, but i have 0 points as well….how do you get dharma points???

  51. Got a 99% on the test. ;)

Actual highest was a 76%. Checking my progress shows that I am in the Ganymede test group. Hmmm…

  52. sola says:

I read this theory (http://merzmensch.blogspot.com/search/label/dharmawhantsyou it’s German though) that ppl are assigned to the different groups depending on whether they “cheated” or not (see ‘Pandora’s Box’…) Well, that’d make sense coz I cheated and I am in the Pandora Group BUT I registered again on a different computer, and I still ended up in the Pandora Group even though I didn’t cheat this time ’round. I need your input. All you Ganymede guys: did you cheat or not? This might turn out more complex than we thought after all.

  53. ted2damax says:

    I GOT AN 81!!!!

  54. Colin says:

@sola – I cheated and I’m in the Ganymede group

Also, has anyone else noticed the second part of how to receive dharma points: “…and take part in any extra tasks set forth by the head of recruits…” blah blah blah…

Does anyone know anything about this? It seems rather sketchy to me, personally.

when is this ARG going to get better?

  55. Faith says:

I don’t think it matters if you cheated or not. I did and I ended up in the Ganymede group.

To get the points, you needed to invite a friend to challenge you.

  56. Wilkaman says:

I got 100%, cheating off course

  57. Cody says:

Wilkaman, how did you get 100%, whats the trick?

  58. richard keenan says:

anyone tried test 2 yet? its multi choice and you only get 1 chance, doh! you can play again but it only records your 1st try.
