Here is my prediction on what we can see happen during the finale. And note, I have not read any of the spoilers floating around the internet, not even the "spoilers lite" that appear here on Doc Arzt.
I have based my list on ideas that have come to mind during the two week break, and I have stayed away from forums and spoiler sites. I suspect that I am not the only Lost fan in the world to make these following suggestions.
We have been able to keep Doc Arzt pretty free of "show stopping" spoilers and I ask that if you do have foreknowledge of actual plot points for tonight, please refrain from including them in your predictions.
Now, here is my list...
1) In the least, The Island will move back in time, at the most, it will move in both space and time.
2) The move will be back to the point that the Dharma project was active.
3) Because of this on-island time, Desmond will not have "pressed the button" yet.
4) Since Desmond hasn't "pressed the button," the 815 will not crash on The Island.
5) Because of this move, events off-island will change.
6) Because of this off-island change, the 815 will have crashed in the Sunda Trench
7) The Oceanic 6's story will be true, but they know what happened, because they have "lived" in both times (not dual timelines).
8) Those left on The Island will become part of the Others.
9) This has happened many times before.
10)There will be no flashbacks or flash forwards in season 5. There is only one timeline (and there has always been only one timeline). We will see the timeline from the perspective of on island time and off island time, which is happening at the same time. This backs up what Faraday mentioned about how time is preceived.
Does your head hurt yet?

I love point 6 and 7, although I don't think this will happen.
So it would be like everything we've seen was in a tangent universe. Donnie Darko anyone? I like this prediction a lot. It holds that the flash forwards really will happen, but the thing is, Jack said he's sick of the lies. If they had lived in both times, wouldn't he realize he isn't lying anymore? I guess it's enough to drive someone to insanity though.
that would definitely be a trip, if this is all true....but i think going back to the time of dharma is a bit of stretch. awesome, but a stretch. prove me wrong man!

I came up with point two(The move will be back to the point that the Dharma project was active) due to a few things that the producers themselves have said. I will paraphrase. They said we will be seeing a lot more of Dharma in season five and there is some indication that the style of storytelling we have seen so far would change.
If it's possible that we will not flashback or forward, then perhaps it will be a "flash now." One timeline, different times along that timeline.
Just a thought. If I could do this with 100 percent accuracy, well, I'd win a lotto.

Doc, I first want to say that I've always loved your site and your info is always on point however I must voice my disagreement with your analysis of the finale here. First of all, while I think it would be a cool idea in theory it would just create way too many plot holes and would simply confuse the casual viewer. While Lost has always been upheld by its intellectually hungry audience, it still has to remain mainstream enough to appeal to the casual demographic. Personally I think we'll see the island move although not through time. This will explain why the others have to lie and have such trouble getting back there in the future. Just my own opinion. Keep up the great work though. I think your theories are quite interesting!
I must say, my predictions are less specific.
1. I think that when the island moves, the device on Keamy's arm will stop transmitting it's signal and the freighter will explode. The O6 will be in transit and thus become stranded. However, the island will not have been saved due to Keamy's continued presence.
2. There is a time loop. However, we are now past the time in that loop where Ben has things figured out. Every time he goes through the loop, Ben is trying to prevent his loss of the island. He changes things each time in an attempt to keep the island.
3. The loop has been run many times, only Ben is aware of it. This time is different because in the previous runs Locke was not present.
4. Locke is Jacob, not in a reincarnated sense but in a very real sense. Locke is also the Smoke monster. When the island is moved, it will move through time. John Locke will eventually die on the island. Due to his high level of communion with the island, his spirit will merge with the island. However, there are two sides to John Locke. One is the farmer, the scientist, the peaceful John Locke. This John Locke goes by the name of Jacob after his death. The other side is the hunter, the violent and angry John Locke. After his death, this part of him becomes the smoke monster.
that is really interesting!! i might just believe it might happen!! it would hurt my head too, though...
Bits and peices of this theory can be found all around the net. It is a piecemeal of Jeff jensen and others
WLN - loved ur theory...good job...that would be sooo cool!!

Thank you for your observation. As I said in my introduction, I would imagine that other Lost fans are probably suggesting similar ideas. But I didn't gather any "bits and pieces" in developing my 10 points. There is no doubt that the majority of Lost fans are very acute observers, more so than most of the casual TV viewers.

Thanks. It will be fun to see how this list holds up to the actual events that we see tonight. Knowing the writers of Lost, for every plot point we figure out, there will be 3 new mysteries in it's place.

i think a lot of this theory is plausable and am excited to possibly see some of it come true. the idea of the oceanic's story to the press/everyone thats not on the island being true but not is really neat and sounds like something you would definitely see on the show. and i really would not be surprised if there was no more flash forwards/flash backs. however, i would very much like to see more flashbacks specifically in the way of finding out what happened to the dharma initiative, and who knows maybe thats what they meant?

If my second prediction above turns out to be correct (2- The move will be back to the point that the Dharma project was active), then you will find out all about Dharma, because everything that happened in the past will be happening again.

I definately agree with all of them. Coffin Pedictions: 1) Ben 2) Micheal
I'd be sad if there are no more flashbacks - - we really need a RICHARD flashback, and I wouldn't mind one on Rousseau either.
I love the ideas you posted in #6 and #7. WOW. Head explodes. I'm too excited!

Well, if I'm correct about the future storytelling structure of the show, then you will see information about Richard and Rousseau. If the Island goes back to a former time, you will see what was happening THEN, only NOW. Is your head hurting again?

"John will die on the island and his soul will merge with the island, due to his deep communion with the island..."...man, who's been eating the mushrooms!!??
Is it just me or are the city buildings drawn on the cover of the "Mysterious" comic, the same city scape that is flipped upside down and used as the island reflection in the "Season 4" promotional art?
I noticed building awihile ago, but not until I was able to see the comic up close, (thx doc!) they seem identicle!
