Too shiny? Have you even seen Speed Racer? This movie looks perfect as a translation from TV to screen.

Your kidding me right? I grew up with Speed. There were no gratuitous halo effects, and no shine. I agree the Mach 5 is perfect, but this looks like a bad video game. I think the general 'feel' is there, but yeah... CGI

Looks great to me, appropriately cartoony. I don't know how they would have done a live action movie and emulated a "non-shiny" 2D cell animation look.
