248px-Foot-statue.jpgDamon Lindelof addressed the reason we haven't seen the four toed statue at a press event in Los Angeles.  Beware:  Lindelof may have been joking, it wouldn't be the first time his dead pan has been mistaken for truth:

" Lindelof satisfied the crowd's appetite for Lost scoop by revealing the real reason the four-toed statue has yet to be seen again. After the monument first appeared "we got a note back from the network that said, 'This is too weird,'" he explained. "I was like, 'Do you watch the show? This is too weird?' Essentially, they said, 'Could it be a six-toed statue?' I was like, 'Someone explain to me why a six-toed statue is less weird than a four-toed statue?' And they're still noodling on that."

What does that mean? I'll be disappointed if the four-toed statue ends up meaning nothing.....

Doc -

"Where art though..."?

You need to get someone to proofread your articles...

Definitely sounds like a joke to me. Disney owns ABC, right? Tell me how many fingers Mickey Mouse has.

Oh, my. I can just hear the deadpan delivery by Mr. Lindelof. I'm sure ol' Four Toes has an intricately-woven story that will be revealed later, but in the meantime we get this hilarious response.

B - Like I can afford a proof reader. Besides, then the site would have no charm

Does Homer Simpson have 4 toes? Maybe they're worried about a lawsuit from the FOX network. DOH!

Thank God, I was starting to wonder if it was ever going to be brought up again, still one of my favorite moments in the show. Ans I really want to know what it's all about.

ive been meaning to put this in the forum, but in "the other woman", as ben is taking juliet to goodwin's body, i swear you can see two full statues on the hillside. one dark and one light. can anyone verify this, or am i just seeing things?

It's a homage to Michael Schofield.

Just a thought... Instead of being from the past, what if the 4-toed statue is from a *future* civilization, since there are thoughts that humans will eventually evolve away their pinky toes... Maybe these statues are from a society that had done that. Stupid, I know...

Maybe children can be born on the island if they possess some genetic birth defect. The statue could be celebrating the birth of someone in ancient times (i.e. the temple time) who became a great leader on the island. Normally you don't erect a huge statue to some nimrod that hasn't accomplished anything in life, although if someone from the present would go to the past, might they not be treated as a hero by a more primitive society? Hurley would be great for such a role.

The statue we see is a normal left foot, but the person of whom the statue belongs to, has a toe cut off, that's the reason why there are only 4 toes.
Still working on the rest of my theory
No,.... just joking....i've got no idea what it could be ...
