>: Doesn't TapDawg Deserve FULL Credit?

I'm not speaking for TapDawg, it's just my opinion, but since he was gracious enough to choose DocArzt.com to house his coverage, shouldn't he be getting FULL credit for his video posts on the other sites that are publishing his video? Personally, I think Tap's insightful comments that accompany his video posts are worth crediting. For some reason, certain other blogs think that I've been treating Tap like a 'Trophey Wife'. Odd, since those other blogs seem to be treating his contributions as aimless entries. Odd since these other blogs seem to be based 90% around the content of others. What if a mass DMCA complaint was released? I'm just saying.

Hell YEAH!!!
We thank tapdawg for all the work and effort he has provided to bring all these goodies to the Lost fans. Thank-You Tapdawg!
But 'those' other blogs that pillage his work, in some cases without due credit, have done worse with leaking complete episodes of Lost. ABC couldn't stop them.
So instead of spinning wheels in a useless legal action, I am taking a moment and thanking the source, tapdawg...
We won't forget ya,
Avoid the Dark... and stay in the light :)
Tapdawg... Thanks so much. I cannot express in words how awesome it is that you are keeping us flunkies unable to attend Comic Con informed. Anyone who is a real fan, knows that you deserve all the credit.
If youre gonna call someone out for stealing info from your site at least have the balls to say who it is!
They aren't stealing from my site. They are stealing from Topdawg's youtube channel, and not even bothering to link to his posts here. They don't have the decency to give Tap full cred, why should we acknowledge them?
After LF108 Spoilergate, Round II, I decided that those other blogs were not in my best interest. I chose DocArzt. That choice is paying dividends since Tapdawg does such great work, and I know Doc wouldn't post "ruiners." Thanks to Tapdawg for the incredible coverage.
Tapdawg- you are so AWESOME! Thank you for all your hard work! We love ya man...xxoo
Having never met Tapdawg until this week at Comic-Con, I have to say that he is a phenomenally nice guy and very gracious. He is the king of multi-tasking, and his detailed coverage of both the EW and LOST panels was terrific. I was fortunate to watch the man in action on both occasions, and he deserves every ounce of credit for those posts and videos.
@thinbluemime
I'm very curious. What does "Avoid the Dark... and stay in the light :)" mean? Are you trying to tell people to stay away from DarkUFO?
Lazy blogs that don't credit their sources SUCK!
There's a simple fix for the YouTube videos... have TapDawg remove them from YouTube - then those lazy fools will be in the dark.
Then re-upload them with a DocArtz splash on them, in case they try that again.
had last minute issues arise that kept me from going to the sdcc. thanks so much tapdawg for the updates. like being there without the 150k other people. thanks again, mad props yo.
BIG thank to TapDawg and of course when i'll post stuff on my blog for comic con, i'll credit him :) it was very sweet for us who can't go there
Great job Tapdawg and many thanks. Yours was the best coverage on the web. Had it not been for your extraordinary efforts, I would have been totally in the dark...a place no self respecting LOST fan should be.
I too would like to add my Thanx not only to Tapdawg, who is AWESOME, but to everyone who contributed even in some small way, to provide the countless fans out in Lostland that had no oppotunity to attend. We have been kept entertained and informed throughout the whole weekend. Thank you, Thnak you, Thank you.
Couldn't agree more, and I want to give a shoutout to Docarzt for having the balls to standup for such a good contributor to the site...
I'm not trying to start anything, but DarkUFO has credited TapDawg for all of the stuff he has used from his... and it was credited before this particular blog was posted up last night. So all of the people responding here (not neccessarily DocArzt... he didn't name DarkUFO) saying bad stuff about DarkUFO.... I don't really think it's warranted in this occasion...
For Example... http://livelost.blogspot.com/2008/07/lost-panel-video.html
Ackermaniv, thanking him for his youtube channel is intentionally ignoring the other coverage that he is providing alongside those videos. I have to say, Tapdawg's coverage is number one (in my book) and deserves better than just a link to his Youtube. As Jo said, the dude busted his ass to give awesome coverage and deliver some unique stuff. But, whatever. Believe me, it's not a matter of saying this blog needs the links... remember, I write for sites and periodicals that dwarf any LOST blog in traffic. Don't confuse it with hit-envy. It's about a complete lack of respect for other bloggers. And yes, there are blogs that rank themselves as the best who don't even really contribute anything to the community other than hoovering up everybody elses content. Worst. Editorial. Philosophy. Evah.
The fact that it is some kind of bizarro house rule now that they have domain over everything that is published over the Internets and can selectively decide how they are going to credit the author based on who they are a contributor for is weird. Tap is a contributor here. It's as if they don't want anybody to know that. And further more, they accused me of coveting him. Hell, Tap was offered to cover the panel for another site and I told him to feel free. no coveting here. I'm glad he chose da.com as his destination.
But, really... this is a rhetorical post. It's just bizarre how those sites are in this "race to be second, but act like first" and seem to be willing to insult the very people they take from.
Yes, his coverage is tremendous and he deserves FULL CREDIT, any place his content is posted. As much as I enjoy the open nature of the Internet, it has also bred a whole host of people who think that they are entitled to all artist's work and effort for free.
This will have a blowback down the road, and the open nature of the Internet as we see it today, will cease to exist, and corporate and governmental regulation will take over.
My opinion, but keep that in mind.
WLN
I guess I don't understand all the hate toward DarkUFO. Weren't they around the longest? Every time I read something on their site that from someone else, they always give credit.
Tapdawg did an amazing job. I have not seen any site that has not given him credit. But if there are any then karma and dharma will get them. In the meantime I am trying to leave comments everywhere I went this weekend to express my gratitude.
In the meantime, let's just let Tapdawg have his due and cease with the negativity.
Thanks, dude. You were able to show me more than I was able to see there.
As if... the first was thefuselage, and the first major blog was TheTailsection, which is docarzt.com essentially. Dark may credit, but he basically reprints everybody's content... which as doc indicates IS illegal.
So, are people pissed off because DarkUFO's web site was published along with this one and others during the G4 1 hour show?
I'm still a bit confused. I thought everyone in the Lost blog-o-sphere got along.
Just my opinion....but DarkUFO is one of the better sites. It's layout is probably one of the better sites out there. Or, maybe I'm just use to it.
I just wanna add too that TapDawg is awesome!
I don't think this is necessarily targeted at DarkUFO. I think it is the fact of people crediting tapdawg for his videos, but not his full coverage.
Of course we get along. That's why we approach each others contributors at Comic Con and make disparaging remarks about each other. ;)
But seriously, don't read too much into this. It's just my way of saying I think TapDawg's coverage deserved to be treated by some as much more than video muling.
Why would anybody be pissed that Dark's site was on the G4 special? I think the right sites got listed off. I would have liked to see lost.cubit.net on there, I think Ben does a fantastic job. It also would have been quite awesome to see the Lost Boys project. Frankly, I was a bit surprised they approached me for it...
This entry was only ever gonna make more rivalry and add to all the haters from 1 blog posting here and vice versa.
It's kinda strange in my eyes as the sites are only after all lost blogs and i can't see why people get this bitter and twisted about other sites (or this one)
It's very unprofessional and ultimately very childish. If it was a financial buisness issue i could understand it more but even then could still not understand the methods of dealing with it i have seen on various lost sites by the admins.
As for the point of this entry (other than to induce flamers) Much kudos to Taps and as for sites that don't give credit.. that is their prerogative as they don't have to but it's basic bad manners not to. It's hardly a crime tho. Once you publish something to world on the internet unless you have taken certain legal steps to make sure it stays there (or needs to seek authors permission) then it's fair game. How others choose to use it is up to them and will just reflect badly on them if they don't give full credits where they are due. I do see docs annouance but Taps is the 1 that should be annoyed if any1.
This entry isn't so much about Taps it's yet another example of the growing hatred and childishness that is going on between Lost sites these days. All it serves is to add fuel. The members/users don't have a problem between the sites in general but a small amount of staff from them seem to and what's worse, think it's neccesary to bring the good general members into their petty battles.
It's a shame.
My advice... Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience
Thanks again Taps
