We have yet another reference to Alice in this episode. You can find chapter 2 here: http://www.2lb.co.uk/alice/cii_the_pool_of_tears.html
Jack is reading to Aaron the following passage:
Alice took up the fan and gloves, and, as the hall was very hot, she kept fanning herself all the time she went on talking: "Dear, dear! How queer everything is today! And yesterday things went on just as usual. I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is, Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle!"

Even if it has nothing to do with the overall story, that is a heck of a passage.
I think it may play into Hurley's comment that the O6 are all dead. Not saying that they are really dead, but something changed with them when they left the island.
Or it could just hint at the fact Jack is about to tumble into a world of confusion. You know, one day everything is great, and the next it seems to have fallen apart.
If some "people" can have their consciousness "time-travel" ala Desmond, can we assume that some of them have found ways to "time travel" their consciousness/physical being into other people? I can't help but think that the Alice passage alludes to the fact that "people aren't always who they appear to be" -- perhaps this explains Jack's father, Ben's mother, Yemi, "taller Ghost Walt", etc. -- maybe it isn't Smokey after all???
I have *NOTHING* to back this up ... just a thought.
Great thought cyphersolver!
