Some have been calling for a better screen cap of the star maps in Ben's room. Click the image below to enlarge.
It is a poster from Spaceshots.com
UPDATE: paranoid.pj pointed out the image was rotated 90 degrees, so I took the image from Ben's room, stretched it, rotated it to the right 90 degrees, upped the contrast, and...

Is that a map simmilar to the generated by google-earth?
They show the star map over your current location...
I believe the poster on Bens wall is of a Planosphere. It's a tool Astronomers use to tell them what they will see in the nights sky on any date and time. I posted a link to Wikipedia that will tell you more about it.

not to be nit-picky, but there's no such thing as a map of the universe. :)
Duly noted. That is in fact the name of the poster. The full name is "Map Of Universe - Northern Hemisphere - Chart." Not to be nitpicky. ;)
I want one of those, it glows in the dark!
Might be production error, being a map of the Northern Hemisphere. Why would meticulous Ben want a map of the stars that wouldn't work from where he's at? Unless [cue dramatic music] the Island *isn't* in the south Pacific and is instead in the Northern Hemisphere, like, near Sri Lanka! [/dramatic music]
I don't know if it's significant, but the map is rotated to the left 90 degrees, so that the right side of the poster on the link is the top of the poster in Ben's room.
Is it rotated 90 degrees or is it a mirror image?
Can anyone identify the masks that surround the map? Tribal of some sort it seems. Perhaps tribes indigenous to Sri Lanka??? Oh yeah, [dramatic music]

Nonsense. I have an actual size map of the Universe. It's outside right now.
I had this very map when I was a kid. It came from National Geographic
oh man! i found that very map on the side of the road a few weeks ago on garbage day! that is WILD...i will haev to go home and study it more closely....it`s actually really cool. the exact same one!!
imfromthepast-
you funny. and clever.
Looks like something on the back of the blast door.
If that map of the universe is what you'd see from the northern hemisphere, is there any significance as to the location of the island that the map has been turned 90 degrees? Does it mean that perhaps the island is not at the northern hemisphere?
We already 'know' that the island is around Australia, but I was wondering the significance of the map being turned.
