Lost News
The ODI at DarkUFO has gotten a hold of some potential spoilers of the events that may occur during the Lost panel and the Octagon Global Recruiting booth at Comic Con.

OGR is the Dharma Initiative's recruiting force, and Comic Con will be the first place they go to recruit fans to become part of the Dharma Initiative.  Many of us recieved an email a couple of weeks ago describing how the recruitment process will go.  The initial recruiting push will be followed soon after by an online recruitment for those who were unable to attend Comic Con.  OGR could be the start of the TLE2 that we have all been waiting for.

These "spoilers" are new details about OGR and the source anonymous, so we can't say if any of this is accurate.  But then again, its always fun to speculate!

At the OGR recruitment booth there will be actors who will playing members of OGR recruiters. They are there to promote and make us sign up to an "online recruiting game". The recruiters will stand next to computer terminals that are connected to the fake site, in order to help users create profiles and to guide them through a fake questionnaire.A second group of individuals (3-4 actors) that are NOT the recruiters will also be at SDCC. No confirmation if they will be on the floor or at the booth yet, but most likely just the LOST Panel.OGR will also be a part of the LOST Panel. There will be 4 members of OGR.As of today, no cast members confirmed to appear and the only word so far is that Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse will of course be there. At the panel, the OGR recruiters will make a LIVE "performance" to recruit new members of Dharma. The second group of individuals will make an appearance at some point during the performance to "throw a wrench" into the OGR's plans.

Lost News
LOST has made the top ten list for Emmy consideration

Boston Legal
Damages
Dexter
Friday Night Lights
Grey's Anatomy
House
Lost
Mad Men
The Tudors
The Wire

Five of these shows will not make the final list.  With the sincere love fest over Lost's "revival" as a story-telling machine, it'd be a bit odd for it not to make it to the top five.  But we shall see.

Lost News
Setting aside anticipation over the Emmy awards nominations - to be announced next month - LOST scored some important wins at the Saturn awards.  Say what you will about the importance - or lack - of an Emmy win, the Saturn awards represent strictly those with a professional interest in fantasy and science-fiction programming.   There really couldn't be a truer measure of how LOST is holding up after four seasons than  to judge it against its own contemporaries.

From the Saturn Awards Website:

Television honors were dominated by the ABC television series, "Lost", which walked away with 4 awards, including Best Network Television Series and Best Actor (Matthew Fox).

Best Network Television Series: Lost
Best Actor on Television: Matthew Fox
Best Supporting Actor on Television: Michael Emerson (Lost)

Hiatus Survival Kit
Well, maybe not completely different, but certainly not LOST related.

As the inevitable hiatus descends upon us, many thrash about in search of something to pass the time. To this end, may I suggest thetrickshot.com?

The Trickshot is a rather unique website, and as such it is hard to explain. Officially, it is an "Online Graphic Serial", a graphic novel being released page by page.

The entire tale is split into 10 Chapters and each Chapter is split into 10 Installments. A little math will tell you that this comes to a total of 100 Installments. The story is completely written out, so there will be no ugly surprises or cop-outs in store. Installments are released on Fridays and there is a one month Hiatus between Chapters. With this schedule, the entire thing should last through 2010.

I think it is a solid, unique story, that shares some of the better qualities of LOST. Fans of LOST will find it easy to cross over, but I warn you, it is not for the faint of heart. The plot gets a little technical and slightly twisted down the line.

Anyhoo, drop by, check it out, and I hopefully at the very least it will help pass the time to Season 5.

Lost Interviews
Naveen Andrews talks with Digital  Spy about Season 4, the challenge of playing Sayid in Flash Forwards, and the possibilities of  A Lost Spin-Off.

What did you make of the season finale?
"I was really pleased with it, because it's the closest we've come to season one in terms of the standard of excellence. They needed to get it back on track and they have."

You were quite critical of season three, weren't you?
"So was everyone else, as far as I know. I'm not alone in that. It's difficult not to feel proprietorial towards the work. When you feel a drop in quality, it would be dishonest to yourself if you didn't acknowledge that."

Lost Theories

As Locke was watching the Orchid video, we hear Halliwax warn "Now for your own safety and the safety of those around you, metallic objects must never... (warps and distorts) be placed within the vault."

I was wondering. Did Ben place all the metal objects into the vault to 1) Cause a reaction that would blow a hole in the vault, there by exposing the access to the wheel 2) To disable the Dharma machine so no one could use it again 3) or for both reasons?

Makes you wonder.

Lost News
Lost may be down, but it still rocks the ratings according to the week in the review report from Nielsen:

"The popular ABC mystery show "Lost" was the most-watched show last week, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The show, which normally ranks as the 19th most favorite among viewers, surprised by drawing 12.3 million viewers, the research firm said. The show peaked in its final half-hour, with 12.7 million."

Take that doom-sayers.

Lost News

Season 4 of Lost was as much an act of retroactive brain washing as it was a continuation of a coherent story.  Coherent?  Lost?  Yes, I realize the two words do not work well in the same sentence, yet I can't help but be bowled over by the sharp turn in Lost's trajectory that happened this season, let alone the seeming direction that it is going in as it winds towards its conclusion.  Let me explain this in a little more detail.

The show, in the beginning, seemed a slow moving survivalist drama built around the "Robinson Crusoe" structure with an ever present subtext of redemption and 'finding' yourself.  It was easy to look around the bizarre occurrences and make lofty assessments like "What is 'Lost' is not the people themselves, but their sense of selves."   The show proved it, week after week.  The subtle connections between characters and events seemed to really just punctuate that introspective aspect but making the complimentary observation that in our clumsy self-seeking, our actions often impact others.  A sort of social "Butterfly Effect."

Lost News
In case you guys didn't watch The Daily Show with Jon Stewart last night, I wanted to show you that our favorite show got some love from TDS's newest correspondent, comparing it favorably to the actually rather dramatic Democratic primary here in the US. (Lost also got a fleeting mention as a "counterpoint" in Stephen Colbert's "The Word" Segment on The Colbert Report immediately following TDS.)
Enjoy!
(Addendum: Here's a Youtube link for those of you outside the US...can't vouch for how long it stays good, though!)
